Heading into this game, the Eagles were a disappointing 0-2. With championship aspirations quickly fading away, they desperately needed a win. However, with Mike “Turbo” Pollack (7th grade Yavneh) missing from the Eagles net, Jacob Bach (7th grade Yavneh) was forced to fill in between the pipes.
The Cowboys would test Bach early & often, but on this night he was stellar for the Eagles. The teams went into the 2nd scoreless but 3 minutes in Michael "Buzz" Hirt (8th grade Noam) lit the lamp giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead heading into the 3rd. With the fans going crazy, would this be the night that the Eagles would finally get into the win column?
Early in the 3rd, the Cowboys finally beat Bach as Max Milstein (8th grade Moriah) took a Yoni Schwartz (8th grade Moriah) pass & beat Bach to knot the game at 1. Max has been a goal scoring machine as he was coming off a game in which he scored a hat trick. The score would stay tied all the way to the buzzer signaling the end of regulation.
Overtime hockey didn’t have a chance to get as intense as it usually is when early in OT Yehoshua Lerer ( 7th grade RYNJ) broke in all alone & beat Bach 5 hole giving the Cowboys a 2-1 OT victory.
